Property Magnate

Alan's current posture is toward investing in the tangible. To that end, he is plunging more and more of his paper wealth into material, especially by investing in artworks and property. In doing so, he hopes to foster good relations with the Toreador, who have an ever-strengthening presence in the city.

Dancing with the Stars

Sovereign shows great kindness and friendship to any Kindred he meets

who he feels can get him an in with important members of the court or who have financial contacts outside the city. He not only focuses on making those friends, but on making their friends his friends. He will show great interest in the business of anyone who wishes to talk to him about it and he will seek to indebt them to him either financially or by boon.

Dreams of Patricide

One of his ultimate goals remains to destroy his sire. He has heard tales that drinking the blood of one's sire adds their power to your own and he feels, with the power of Ballard, he could finally make himself safe. He also has enough knowledge of his business empire to assume control, having run large parts of it himself for long enough.

The Landlord

The one thing that hasn't changed is that Alan is a source of easy finance to Kindred and is the landlord for many youthful Kindred and even coteries seeking shelter. While some bold types may think it possible to simply take such a loan lightly due to his less than martial aspect, there are many stories of young Kindred who find themselves weighted down in the bottom of the lake when they awoke one night after failing to make payments.

Kevin JacksonEsteem

Alan's closest and most amiable relationship is with Prince Jackson. He holds the Prince in great esteem for maintaining his position as Seneschal since Lodin's death, and speaks of Jackson almost as a surrogate sire.

Aluc Romas de LeonBusiness

Aluc has become a valuable business associate of Sovereign, keeping him apprised of any valuable pieces which become available to invest in.

Horatio BallardHatred

Alan maintains a close watch for any signs of his reclusive sire, Horatio Ballard's return to court. He has worked hard to recover his position and doesn't want the old toad pulling it out from underneath him again. Alan continually briefs the Prince against him, subtly, with tales of his wastefulness.

Disciplines

Auspex
▶1Sense the Unseen

Sense supernatural activity.

If the target is using Obfuscate they oppose using Wits + Obfuscate vs the user's Wits + Auspex, normal searches use Resolve.

Pool: Wits/Resolve + Auspex

Alan is described as a skittish, desperately nervous man convinced he is being watched or listened to by 'spooks' and the Second Inquisition.

▶2Unerring PursuitDominate ●

Tracking a victim.

The victim can roll Wits + Awareness to catch a glimpse of the user once under its effects.

Cost: One Rouse Check

Pool: Resolve + Auspex

Duration: One night plus one for each success

This power allows Alan to track victims, fitting his history of vindictively eliminating the IRS agents who prosecuted him and keeping a close watch on his sire.

Dominate
▶1Compel

Issue a single command.

No rolls are needed when the target is an unprepared mortal. However, mortals who have been Dominated in this scene already or this goes against their nature may roll to resist.

Pool: Charisma + Dominate

Duration: No more than one scene

A fundamental tool for a Ventrue financier to issue quick, undeniable commands to subordinates and bank officials.

▶2Mesmerize

Issue complex commands.

No rolls are needed when the target is an unprepared mortal. However, if this goes against their nature they may roll to resist.

Cost: One Rouse Check

Pool: Manipulation + Dominate

Duration: Until command is carried out or the scene ends

Alan maintains control over prominent financiers and CEOs, requiring the ability to implant complex instructions for long-term financial manipulation.

▶3Forgetful Mind

Rewrite someone's memory.

Each point of margin on the test allows one additional memory to be altered.

Cost: One Rouse Check

Pool: Manipulation + Dominate

Duration: Indefinitely

Essential for a man obsessed with the Second Inquisition and 'leaving a trail,' allowing him to erase memories of his meetings and business dealings.

▶4Rationalize

Convince victims of Dominate it was their idea the entire time.

If pressed on their actions the victim can make a test and if successful they question their actions.

Duration: Indefinitely

This power ensures that the CEOs and directors he controls believe his financial 'suggestions' were their own ideas, preventing them from asking difficult questions.

Fortitude
▶1Unswayable Mind

Add Fortitude rating to rolls to resist methods to sway the character's mind against their will including supernatural.

Alan is terrified of being 'turned rat' or manipulated by others, making a power that protects his mind from supernatural influence a priority.

▶2Toughness

Subtract the Fortitude rating from all superficial damage taken before halving, it cannot be rounded down below one.

This occurs before halving the damage but cannot reduce it below one.

Cost: One Rouse Check

Duration: One scene

Despite his 'less than martial aspect,' Alan has a reputation for disposing of debtors in the lake, requiring some personal resilience if things turn violent.

▶3Fortify the Inner Façade

Increasing the Difficulty of mental powers to read or pierce the mind by half of the Fortitude Rating.

If the rules allow them to resist, they add their Fortitude rating to their pool instead.

Duration: One scene

Fits his paranoid nature and desire to hide his secrets, especially his links to the Giovanni and his plans for patricide, from those who might read his mind.

Presence
▶1Awe

Add Presence rating to any Skill roll involving Persuasion, Performance, or Charisma related rolls as per ST discretion.

Once the power wears off the victim reverts to their original opinions.

Duration: One scene or until ended by the user

Alan uses his social standing to foster relations with the Toreador and indebt other Kindred to him through charm and perceived importance.
